Club One at Petaluma

Description: 64,000-square-foot two-story health club with 41,000 square feet inside and 23,000-square-foot outdoor aquatics area featuring two pools, a two-story water slide, grill and sundeck

Features: three group exercise studios, a play-care center, youth sports center and personal spa services. The lobby, lounge and meeting rooms can host local business, sporting and community events.

Completion: February 2009

The club is the first in the North Bay for San Francisco-based Clubsource. It is located in the second building to be built in Basin Street Properties’ Redwood Business Center office-retail development in north Petaluma. The club building originally was to be a 60,000-square-foot office building, but Gensler reconfigured it. Ground-breaking was on May 2.

Fairfield Inn & Suites

1101 Gravenstein Highway South, Sebastopol

Description: 82 rooms, 43,000 square feet on 1.5 acres

Features: “King Executive” one-bedroom suites, wide-screen televisions, wireless and wired Internet access, business center, 375-square-foot meeting room, outdoor pool and spa and exercise room

Completion: 54 rooms on Jan. 26, 28 more rooms on Feb. 28

General contractor: K & L Construction, Petaluma

Interior design: Design Atelier, San Rafael

Management: Lok Group of Cos., Santa Rosa

Prominent Sonoma County hotelier Kirk Lok of Lok Group of Companies bought the land 11 years ago and began construction with his brother Alec Lok, who co-owns and operates K & L Construction. It opened as a Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites in 1997.

A decade later, Lok Group management approached Maryland-based Marriott International about a partnership under the chain’s business-oriented Fairfield Inn brand. Upgrades to the existing hotel to bring it up to Marriott’s standards for guest comfort and safety added $1 million to renovation costs.

Meadows at Fountaingrove

3589 Round Barn Blvd., Santa Rosa

Description: Six-building, 4.13-acre multifamily complex with 70 units. Twenty-four are 800-square-foot one-bedroom units, 30 are 1,100-square-foot two-bedroom units, 23 are two-bedroom townhouses with 1,426 or 1,440 square feet and five are 1,244-square-foot three-bedroom units.

Features: Craftsman-style architecture, supplied washer, dryer and refrigerator, granite countertops and fitness center

Billa Enterprises, a Santa Rosa-based real estate investment company run by Telecom Valley pioneer Ajaib Bhadare, first received city approval for rezoning the land from office to residential uses in 2002, and a 70-condominium project was approved in 2005.
