Bank of Marin in Novato appointed Chris Rosell vice president, private banker for Sonoma County in the bank's North McDowell office in Petaluma. Mr. Rosell was most recently a commercial loan officer with Sonoma Bank.


Christopher Tibbits, principal and vice president of Riechers Spence & Associates in Napa, passed the Professional Land Surveyor Exam to be a licensed land surveyor; design engineer Ryan Panganiban passed the Professional Engineers Exam to be a registered professional engineer; and assistant engineer James Patrick completed his EIT Exam to be an engineer-in-training.

Wayne Bossier, a project architect at Santa Rosa firm Simons & Woodard Inc., completed the work and passed the tests to be a LEED Accredited Professional and Certified Access Specialist.

Business Organizations

Santa Rosa Chamber of Commerce president and CEO Jonathon Coe received a Regional Sustainable Development Fellowship, funded by the Ford Foundation, from the American Chamber of Commerce of Executives. Fellows work on a regional action project that addresses an opportunity for or barrier to creating sustainable, inclusive prosperity for their own region.


Two Sonoma State University Wine Business MBA students, Leah McNally and Andy Gamitian, were awarded scholarships to attend a conference sponsored by The Wine Academy of Spain. Ms. McNally works at Stag’s Leap Winery in Napa. Mr. Gamitian works for a wine retailer and also writes a wine blog.

Dr. Vivian Belmusto and Dr. David Almond joined the staff at Alliance Medical Center in Healdsburg. Dr. Belmusto served as the deputy health officer of Sacramento County, specializing in disease control. Dr. Almond is the medical director at the Jewish Community Free Clinic in Rohnert Park.

Nonprofit Organizations

Hospice by the Bay in Larkspur honored long-time volunteer Ruth Silverman with its 2009 Dee Fahy Volunteer Achievement Award. A nurse by profession, Ms. Silverman was inspired in 1983 by a nun who worked at another hospice to become a patient care volunteer in Marin. Though now retired, she continues to show her commitment as a member of the Friends of Hospice Auxiliary.

Jill Collins Williams was named to the board of directors for Marin Abused Women's Services in San Rafael.  Ms. Williams is the president of San Rafael-based HR BizPartners LLC.

Real Estate

Karen Cherniss and Agi Smith joined Pacific Union Real Estate’s Napa Valley office as sales associates.

Ms. Cherniss was previously with Windermere Real Estate. Mr. Smith worked as a marketing consultant for publicly traded companies.

The company also announced that Realtor Jill Silvas, branch manager of the Pacific Union International Inc. office in Sonoma, was honored with the H. Cris Collie Legacy Award, presented by the Worldwide ERC Foundation for Workforce Mobility.

Jeff Farnsworth, a four-year employee of Steward Property Services Inc. in Petaluma, was promoted to director of operations.  Mr. Farnsworth was formerly with Sam Goody in Eureka.  Beth Ainslie was promoted to senior property manager.  She has been with the company for five years and holds a CCAM designation.
