The American Society of Golf Course Architects named Kevin Ramsey, vice president and principal of Santa Rosa-based Golfplan – Fream, Dale & Ramsey, as one of six new associate members.

The Northern California Engineering Contractors Association in Santa Rosa named John Bly executive vice president. Mr. Bly was formerly the business development manager with Ghilotti Construction and a past president of the North Coast Builders Exchange and the Engineering Contractors Association.

Education

Sonoma State University biology professor Hall Cushman and German professor Michaela Grobbel were selected as recipients of this year's Goldstein Award for Excellence in Scholarship. Dr. Cushman, a faculty member since 1994, secured more than $2 million dollars for research funding in the areas of ecology and conservation biology and has published widely in these areas. Dr. Grobbel coordinates the German program, teaching all levels of German language and culture classes, including German film.

Health Care

Rocklin-based Horizon West Healthcare Inc. named Lori Stewart director of human relations. Most recently Ms. Stewart operated her own human resource consulting business in Southern California. Horizon West is a provider of inpatient rehabilitation and skilled nursing services with 27 facilities in California and Utah including Napa Nursing Center in Napa, Horizon West at the Lake in Lakeport and Valley View Skilled Nursing Center in Ukiah.

Priscilla Locke was appointed director of patient relations at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital. Ms. Locke has been area manager of marketing and media with St. Joseph Health System—Sonoma County for four years.

Jerry Suyderhoud joined Cornish & Carey Commercial in Larkspur as senior vice president. Mr. Suyderhoud was previously with Orion Partners in Marin County.

Ellen and Bart Strady joined Artisan Sotheby’s International Realty in Santa Rosa. Mr. and Ms. Strady are longtime real estate professionals in the Russian River area and throughout Sonoma County.

Telecommunications

Integra Telecom, with an office in Santa Rosa, promoted Dave Jorgenson to vice president of sales in the carrier’s California and Nevada regions. In his new executive position, Mr. Jorgenson plans to increase sales activity in Integra’s California and Nevada service areas. Integra Telecom provides voice and Internet solutions to business and carrier customers in 11 Western states.

Wine

Clos Pegase in Calistoga appointed Richard Sowalsky as its winemaker. Mr. Sowalsky’s previous winemaking position was at Tetra, part of the Hill & Wollack Wine Estates. Prior to Tetra, he spent two years as the winemaker at William Hill Estate and six years at Robert Mondavi Winery in Oakville as associate winemaker for the Bordeaux varieties.

Longtime Napa grower Ron Wicker received the 2010 Grower of the Year award from the Napa Valley Grapegrowers.
