AMERICAN CANYON -- The 650,000-square-foot Jackson Family Wines Distribution Center earned LEED Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council, making it one of the largest LEED projects in the state. The new refrigerated warehouse was built to consolidate 10 separate warehouses over three counties into one location and increase proximity to major roadways and rail. The move results in faster order-to-ship times, decreased costs, increased quality through reduced handling, fewer trucking emissions, greater water- and energy-efficiency and direct loading to rail cars.Environmental features include protection of wetlands, use of reflective hardscape, gray concrete instead of asphalt and a cool roof. The project is build-to-suit by Scannell Properties, and leasing partners are Jackson Family Wines and Biagi Brothers.
