The California State Fair announced the winners of the 2010 Commercial Cheese Competition include Redwood Hill Farm & Creamery of Sonoma County, Best of Show and Best of Division for its 3 Peppercorn Chevre and Best of Division for its Camellia; Point Reyes Farmstead Cheese Co. in Marin, Best of Show and Best of Division for its Original Blue and Best of Division for its Toma; and Vella Cheese Co. in Sonoma, Best of Divison for its Oro Secco.
Mezzetta in American Canyon, producer of imported and domestic peppers and olives, is holding the Third-Annual Mezzetta Make That Sandwich Recipe Contest. Contestants can enter their own original recipes in any or all three categories of cold, hot and vegetarian sandwich for the chance to win $25,000 at www.makethatsandwich.com.
The Oxbow Public Market in Napa has two new tenants: Ca’ Momi, a classic Italian pizzeria, pasticceria and enoteca wine bar with retail, and Graham's Take-Away Foods, offering breakfast, lunch and dinner. Owners Graham and Andrea Zanow are graduates of the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, and Chef Graham Zanow worked at the French Laundry in Yountville.

The California Rangeland Trust in Napa announced the permanent conservation of the 1,275-acre Running Deer Ranch, owned by John and Judy Ahmann in Napa County. The Rangeland Trust worked with the California Department of Conservation, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Farm and Ranch Lands Protection Program and the Napa Land Trust to place an agricultural conservation easement on the property, ensuring that it will remain a natural, working landscape in perpetuity.
Wine creation, sales and marketing company Canopy Management in the Napa Valley introduced new additions to the Middle Sister family of wines portfolio, a female-focused charitable campaign. "Help a Sister Out" pledges one dollar per case of Middle Sister wine sold to Dress For Success, a national organization empowering underprivileged women to achieve financial independence through professional development. Middle Sister Wines also supports Wine, Women and Shoes, a fundraising event founded by Napa Valley's female vintners.
