NAPA -- Travel industry wine dealer Intervine Inc. named former Foster's Wine Estates spokesman Ed Matovcik as president.

“Ed brings a wealth of talent and strategic experience to our growing global business,” said Colleen May, co-owner of Intervine.  “He is extremely well-respected throughout the industry and is a highly skilled leader with a proven track record of success.”

Mr. Matovcik left Foster's Wine Estates, the Napa-based wine group for Foster's Group of Australia, after four years as vice president of external affairs. Previously, he was chief of staff for Rep. Mike Thompson, D-St. Helena, for 16 years. He has an MBA from Columbia University and studies

He replaces Lori Lynne Brundick, who recently "left to follow other opportunities," according to a spokesman. She came to Intervine in 2006 from a management position in the wine group of former investment banking firm SVB Alliant.

Intervine is a importer, wholesaler and retailer of wine to airlines and cruise lines. The company started 19 years ago in the niche business of marketing wines from around the world to airlines, many which need wine to be stocked in dozens of locations worldwide, and expanded into cruise lines nearly a decade ago, according to spokesman Michael Borck.
