The National Federation of Independent Business/California honored Maria Carrillo High School student Nathan Veldkamp with its 2010 Young Entrepreneur Foundation award. The NFIB Young Entrepreneur Foundation program provides $1,000 to $10,000 in annual tuition assistance to high school students that will attend a university, community college or vocational/technical institute to reward and encourage their entrepreneurial talents.
The Santa Rosa Breakfast Club, a networking and leads group, elected new officers John Lewis, president; Melinda Hughes-Berland, vice president; David Wasley, secretary; Gabe Dunton, treasurer; and Ed Berland, webmaster. The group meets Tuesday mornings at 7:30 at Willie Bird's Restaurant in Santa Rosa.
The Sonoma State University Alumni Association elected to its board of directors President Vincent Cortese, a Citibank N.A. vice president and Sonoma branch manager; Treasurer David Felte, financial planner and investment adviser representative with Eagle Strategies LLC in Santa Rosa and associate editor of Financial News Digest; and Secretary Sarah Scudder, internal online order solutions for Rohnert Park-based Golden Pacific Systems. Re-elected to the positions of board vice president were Molly Rattigan, director of workforce development for Napa County, and Kelly Bass, marketing and public relations manager for the Santa Rosa Chamber of Commerce.

Windsor resident Terri Ottoboni purchased Marin County-based Cobblestone Cookies. She acquired the rights to the cookies, their processing and equipment. Produced at the Healdsburg Toffee Co. kitchen in Windsor, the cookies are currently available at Powell’s in Windsor, Oakville Grocery, Oliver’s Market and Dry Creek General Store.
Chris Dawson, formerly director of operations and distribution at The Press Democrat, was named to the Palm Drive Health Care District board of directors, a volunteer board that oversees Palm Drive Hospital. Mr. Dawson replaces former board member Steve Murphy, who resigned. He will serve until November, when he can choose to seek election to a two-year term.

Amir Farhid was named director of business development of Sonoma-based Frank Howard Allen Realtors, The Wine Country Group. Mr. Farhid was most recently the broker and owner of Pro Capital Mortgage in Novato.

Wine importer and retailer Intervine Inc. in Napa appointed Ed Matovcik president. Mr. Matovcik served as vice president of external affairs for Foster’s Wine Estates and before that as chief of staff to Congressman Mike Thompson.
Hugh Chappelle was named winemaker for Quivira Vineyards & Winery in Healdsburg. Mr. Chappelle was winemaker at Lynmar Estate and has more than 20 years of winemaking experience.
