SAN RAFAEL -- Central Payment, a San Rafael-based transaction processing service, said more than 11,000 merchants have become new customers since it began offering the First National Merchant Solutions processing platform service in December 2009.
Central Payment provides transaction and other electronic technology solutions, personal service and pricing to more than 35,000 businesses across the country. It annually processes in excess of $2.5 billion in transactions.
“First National Merchant Solutions is a premier service provider with more than 50 years of world-class support. Working with First National Merchant Solutions is a critical component of our ongoing growth,” said Zach Hyman, the firm’s co-managing partner.
The company was established in 2005 by twin brothers Zachary and Matthew Hyman.
Since working with First National, the company has hired about 20 people, bringing the total employees up to 120 people, Mr. Hyman said.
The company has roughly 750 employees across the country and plans to add another 20 people in Marin over the next year.
“First National is the leader in the bankcard acquired services,” Mr. Hyman said.
He said it has helped leverage in the recruiting process for new customers. For instance, he said, “We are now tapped into the petroleum gas industry.”
He said Central Payment’s previous partner bank could only service small to medium-sized businesses.
“Now we can work with any size business,” he said.
Through its arrangement with First National Bank of Omaha, sponsoring bank of First National Merchant Solutions, Central Payment now offers debit and credit card processing to all companies who accept transaction cards for payment.
“Central Payment has quickly demonstrated its acumen in implementing our technology and in successfully attracting merchants. We look forward to a long and successful relationship with the company, which is rapidly becoming a leader in the industry,” said Diana Mehochko, president of First National Merchant Solutions.
First National Merchant Solutions is a payment processor providing service and solutions to businesses across North America for more than 50 years. It is considered among the top 10 companies in its industry.
Mr. Hyman said that in addition to the local hiring, Central Payment will continue bringing in sales partners across the country as needed.
“There is room for growth,” he said.
