Novato-based SPG Solar will provide the Mammoth Community Water District with a system to power its wastewater and recycled water treatment plant, the pumps delivering reclaimed water to the Sierra Star and eventually to the Snowcreek golf courses in Mammoth Lakes. When completed, the project will be Mono County’s largest solar photovoltaic system installation.

B.R. Cohn Winery in Glen Ellen announced the new release of the B. R. Cohn 2008 Kosher Cabernet Sauvignon, certified by the Orthodox Union. Four hundred cases have been produced and will be sold in the B.R. Cohn Winery tasting room and online at www.brcohn.com.

St. Helena-based Conn Creek Winery’s AVA Room Barrel Blending Experience was named the regional winner of the “Innovative Wine Tourism Experience” award at the 2011 Best of Wine Tourism Awards.

St.Helena-based Sutter Home Family Vineyards donated more than $800,000 to the City of Hope for cancer research through the Capsules for Hope program, which encourages Sutter Home consumers to mail in capsules from any bottle of Sutter Home wine in the 750ml or 1.5L size, and the winery will donate $1 for every foil capsule received.

Wine barrel maker Tonnellerie Radoux in Santa Rosa was awarded the Bordeaux Vinitech 2010 Gold Medal for Technical Innovation in Wine for its Radoux OakScan, a new tool that controls the quality of barrels using near infrared spectrometry to deliver the instantaneous quantification of the extractable tannins in individual oak staves before they enter production.
