Valley of the Moon Children's Home Phase 3 addition was awarded LEED Silver certification by the U.S. Green Building Council. The project recycled more than 95 percent of waste materials, incorporated elements that encourage the use of alternate transportation, decreased night time light pollution, increased use of natural light, decreased storm water runoff and overall water use and featured energy-efficient systems and designs.

Sutter Health donated $5,500 to the Food Bank of Solano and Contra Costa as part of a $252,000 donation to food banks across Northern California to help feed the hungry.

The YWCA of Sonoma County was one of 13 local nonprofit agencies to receive part of a $65,000 grant from Verizon Wireless for women and men affected by domestic violence.

Novato and Sonoma-based SolarCraft completed a 123.5 kW solar electric installation at DuMol Winery in Windsor, the first LEED-certified commercial building constructed in the Windsor Township.  The system will generate approximately 185,000 kilowatt hours of energy annually, offsetting the winery’s yearly energy consumption.
