Banking & Finance

Monika Besancon, a 30-year veteran of the mortgage industry, was promoted to real estate loan manager of Sonoma County-based Community First Credit Union. Ms. Besancon will work mostly from the credit union’s corporate offices in Santa Rosa.

Business Organizations

Barbara Jones joined the Marin Builders Association as membership manager. The association elected as president, Dave Trahan, Patriot Mechanical; vice president, Mark Silvia, Marin Mechanical; treasurer, Jeff Mertel, Mertel Carpets; and secretary, Aimi Dutra, The Dutra Group. Directors elected to a 3-year term are Tyler Doherty, Cal-West Rentals; Dave Garbarino, Marin Sanitary Service, Dick Ghilotti, Ghilotti Construction Company, Jim Schalich, Schalich Bros. Construction and Mark Silvia, Marin Mechanical. Also appointed to a 3 year term was Diane Henderson, DMH Land Use Planning.

J. Roy Martinez is the new chairman of the North Bay Angels in Healdsburg. He was most recently Chief Financial Officer at TodoCast, Inc. in San Juan Capistrano.

Business & Professional Services

Julien Gervreau joined Windsor-based Data Instincts, a public outreach firm specializing in water issues. Mr. Gervreau has more than 10 years of experience in the development and implementation of branding and outreach strategies.

John Guill joined architecture firm DTR Consulting Services Inc. as an associate/ project manager.

Gary Lentz joined accounting firm Pisenti & Brinker in Santa Rosa as director of business advisory services. Mr. Lentz has worked in finance, sales and marketing, operations, information security and general business management.

Construction

North Bay-based Wright Contracting Inc. hired Robin Stephani in the capacity of business development, including marketing, architecture and industry professionals project liaison.

Education

The Sonoma State Alumni Association in Rohnert Park elected Ross Goodwin to its board of directors.  Mr. Goodwin is a managing partner for Bennett Valley Group in Santa Rosa, and teaches business classes at College of Marin and Dominican University.

Energy

San Rafael-based Colombia Clean Power & Fuels Inc. named mining and metallurgy expert Carlos Soto president of its wholly-owned Colombian subsidiary, Energia Andina Santander Resources S.A.S. Previously, Mr. Soto was with Carbones del Cerrejón Limited, the largest mining operation in Colombia.

Food & Beverage

Mary Barragan joined Costeaux French Bakery in Healdsburg as business manager. Most recently Ms. Barragan was with Pacific Markets and Hilton Sonoma Wine Country Hotel.

Government

Dawn Weisz was hired by the Marin Energy Authority as the authority's permanent executive officer. Ms. Weisz was formerly a principal planner with Marin County's Community Development Agency and played a key role in creation of the authority.

Bruce Okrepkie of Woodruff Sawyer & Co. was appointed the new planning commissioner for the Town of Windsor for 2011-2014.

Health Care

Grant Davies, the executive vice president at CPMC, was named CEO for Sutter Health’s Novato Community Hospital, Sutter Medical Center of Santa Rosa, and Sutter Lakeside Hospital. Mr. Davies has worked 10 years with Sutter Health.

Sutter Pacific Medical Foundation hired Arnold Honick, M.D. at its Women’s Health Center in Santa Rosa. Dr. Honick previously served as director of breast imaging at Seattle’s Inland Imaging.

Law

Attorney Barri Kaplan Bonapart joined San Rafael-based Resolution Remedies' alternative dispute resolution panel as a mediator and arbitrator.  Mr. Bonapart served as a pro tem settlement judge, mediator, arbitrator, discovery referee and small claims appeals hearing officer for the Marin County Courts.

Attorney Nicholas Van Male relocated his principal office to Napa from Fairfield. The Gaw Van Male firm now consists of 19 attorneys and maintains four offices.

Real Estate

Frank Howard Allen Realtors in Novato recognized George DeSalvo as the company’s top producer in 2010.

Santa Rosa commercial real estate appraiser Keith Sablik was awarded the MAI designation from the Appraisal Institute.  Mr. Sablik has been providing real estate appraisal services to the North Bay since 1989.

Wine

Bobbette Schaefer was promoted to manage the sales Jackson Family Wines estates Cambria Estate Winery in the Santa Maria Valley, Matanzas Creek in Bennett Valley and Stonestreet Winery in Alexander Valley.  Previously Ms. Schaefer was vice president of sales for the gulf division.

Ignacio Gallegos Jr. was promoted to vineyard manager of Napa Valley’s Somerston Wine Co. Mr. Gallegos has held a management role on Somerston's vineyard team since 2006.
