Petaluma Health Care District takes first step to sell, lease Southpoint property

PETALUMA -- The Petaluma Health Care District board at its most recent meeting declared the current site of the Petaluma Health Center at 1301 Southpoint Blvd. a surplus asset, the first formal step in selling the building or leasing the space.

With the health center poised to move in June to its new home -- a $15 million, 53,000 square-foot building on North McDowell Boulevard --  the building on Southpoint will become empty, allowing the health care district to seek a new tenant or to sell it outright.

Informal appraisals on the 11,500 square-foot Southpoint building put the value at around $1.8 million to $2 million, according to health care district controller Rick Nadale.

The property includes about 60 parking spaces, and the building consists of mostly medical office space.
