Assemblymember Jared Huffman received the 2011 “Paddle for Clean, Abundant Water” award from the California Coastkeeper Alliance for his commitment to protect California’s coastal and inland waterways and fisheries.


Santa Rosa-based Bankers Life and Casualty Company named Joseph   Garcia III branch sales manager of its Santa Rosa office. Mr. Garcia previously served as a field trainer at the company’s Fresno sales office.

Leslie Murphy, CEO of W. Bradley Electric Inc. in Marin, was named to the board of directors of Heffernan Insurance Brokers in Walnut Creek.

Jane Bender and Larry Robinson joined the board of the Climate Protection Campaign. Ms. Bender served on the Santa Rosa City Council for 10 years and Mr. Robinson served 12 years on the Sebastopol City Council. Woody Hastings joined the staff as renewable energy implementation manager. He has over 22 years of energy and policy experience in non-profit, government and private sectors.

Jami Davis, Ph.D. was named executive director of Marin Ventures in San Rafael. Dr. Davis has a 21-year history with Marin Ventures, both as an instructor and clinical director.

Lyndi Brown is interim executive director of the Petaluma Arts Center.  Ms. Brown recently completed a two-year major donor campaign for the Santa Rosa Junior College’s Petaluma Campus.

Lex Poppens was named director of marketing and communications for the Wells Fargo Center for the Arts. Mr. Poppens most recently served as vice president of marketing with the Omaha Symphony.
