Amy's Kitchen signs 10-year lease for 110,000 square feet in southwest Santa Rosa

SANTA ROSA -- Packaged natural foods producer Amy's Kitchen Inc. has signed a 10-year lease for a nearly 110,000-square-foot former Ritz Foodservice distribution warehouse at 3000 Dutton Ave. in southwest Santa Rosa.

The company is planning to consolidate a number of operations around Santa Rosa and in the Central Valley into one large local facility, according to Keegan & Coppin partner Mike Flitner, who represented the company in the recent lease.

Amy's co-owner Andy Berliner wasn't immediately available for comment.

Headquartered in Petaluma,  Amy's continues to make its more than 170 frozen meals, canned soups and  jarred sauces and salsas in its production plant at 2330 Northpoint Parkway, also in southwest Santa Rosa.

In the same business park the company is vacating a 35,600-square-foot warehouse at 975 Corporate Center Parkway and giving up an 20,000-square-foot onion peeling facility on Apollo Way.

According to Mr. Flitner, Amy's will fold a cheese-making operation now in the Central Valley into the new, refrigerated space on Dutton, where the company is making upgrades and will possibly develop an upper story into offices for production plant employees.

Meanwhile, Amy's has also reportedly purchased a plant in South Carolina.

The company bought a 125,000-square-foot facility in Greenville, S.C.,  from Sara Lee, real estate sources said.  At the beginning of this year, Amy's Kitchen was advertising for a plant manager in that state.

Amy's has revenues of about $300 million.

In January, Amy's opened a 30-employee plant in the United Kingdom burough of Corby.  Whole Foods and several other large food retail chains in the UK carry the products.

The company already has a plant for frozen-food production and one for canning in Medford, Ore. Amy's Kitchen employs about 1,400 in Santa Rosa, Oregon and the United Kingdom.
