Jan Becker

Jan Becker is the senior vice president of human resources for Autodesk, which is the fifth largest employer in Marin County with 928 employees. In her current role, Ms. Becker is responsible for worldwide human resources, corporate real estate facilities and community relations at the software development company. Previously she was the senior director of human resources for the company’s design solutions division and manager of the “HR Future” team. She joined Autodesk in 1992. She’s held management positions with Sun Microsystems, Activision, Digital Equipment Corp. and Hewlett-Packard. She holds a B.S. in business administration from San Jose State University.

Mark Bernardi

He is tasked with developing and implementing HR programs and business strategies to support overall business objectives at Napa’s fifth biggest employer, with 450 employees. Previously he has director of human resources for Pacific CarCare in Pleasanton and has held HR management positions at San Francisco French Bread Co., Nestle Beverage Company and Safeway Inc./Park n’ Save in Fremont. He obtained an MBA from College of Notre Dame and a bachelor’s in industrial psychology. He is a member of the Northern California Human Resources Council and the Society for Human Resources Management.

Catherine Candland

Catherine Candland joined the Nelson Family of Companies as chief executive officer in May of 2010. As CEO of the North Bay’s largest staffing and HR firm, Ms. Candland works closely with founder Gary Nelson maintaining competitiveness amid an ever-expanding market. Previously the CEO of Advantage Human Resourcing Inc., founded by Ms. Candland in 1985 and built into a $230 million dollar global human capital organization, she brings 24 years of experience. At Advantage, Ms. Candland developed the company’s differentiated services offerings, including recruitment process outsourcing, contingent workforce management, business process outsourcing, direct hire searches, and project recruitment. She has served on the New York Federal Reserve Board of Small Businesses as well as the Connecticut Governor’s Council on Economic Competitiveness and Technology. She has won the Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year award and is a frequent public speaker on matters of workforce, staffing, skills training and human resources issues.

Rudy Collins serves as the human resources business partner for the Kaiser Permanente Marin-Sonoma Area and directs a staff of 22.  His primary responsibilities are to serve as consultant to leadership on all HR issues, ensure the delivery of all HR services to the area's two medical centers and take actions to promote an effective partnership between labor and management. His duties include overseeing the areas of employee and labor relations, recruitment, HR compliance, disability management, learning and development and leadership development.  He also serves as a member of the Marin County Workforce Investment Board, representing Kaiser Permanente.  Mr. Collins has been with Kaiser Permanente for the past seven years and previously held HR management positions with eBay, Charles Schwab, and Levi Strauss.  Currently residing in Corte Madera, he received his BA degree in psychology and philosophy from Boston University and his MBA from Golden Gate University.

Kristina Derkos

Kristina Derkos is the senior vice president of employee relations at Redwood Credit Union and recently was the past president of PASCO, the Professional Association of Sonoma County, an organization of local HR professionals, where she served on the board for four consecutive years. She has more than 15 years experience in HR in both private and public sectors, including union and non-union environments. She earned an associate of arts degree from Santa Rosa Junior College and a bachelor’s degree in public administration from the University of San Francisco. She also holds a certificate in human resources management from Sonoma State University and is certified as a senior professional in human resources with Society for Human Resource Management. Ms. Derkos was also a Leadership Santa Rosa graduate and serves on numerous other boards, including the SRJC Business Office of Technology Board and the Northern California Human Resources Board. In July, she will assume a new role with PASCO as a director at large.

Shireen Donaldson

Shireen Donaldson is the vice president of human resources for Agilent’s Electronic Measurement Group, a position she was promoted to in 2009. Ms. Donaldson joined Hewlett-Packard in 1997 as a human resources consultant and in 1999 was named HR manager for Agilent’s Advanced Networks Division, based in Australia, after HP and Agilent became separate companies. She moved to Sonoma County in 2003 to be the HR manager for the Signal Analysis Division in Santa Rosa, and in 2005 was named the company’s Wireless Business Unit HR manager, where she worked until the recent promotion. Before working for the technology company, she worked as a senior HR consultant for Victoria Legal Aid and served as a senior consultant in the organizational development unit of the Victorian WorkCover Authority, both in Australia. Ms. Donaldson received her B.S. in applied science from the Phillip Institute of Technology and an MBA from Monash University.

Mark Fowler

Mark Fowler is executive director of human resources for the St. Helena Hospital Napa Valley and Vallejo Behavioral Health campuses. His staff provides comprehensive HR services to more than 1300 employees in Napa/Solano County, one of the largest health care providers in the region. He chairs the hospitals Labor Force Cabinet and Leadership Development Task Force. Mr. Fowler also serves as the St. Helena Chamber of Commerce Board Chair. Ongoing projects include creating an exceptional employee and patient experience. He is a mastered prepared HR professional and has been in his position since July of 2003. He lives with his family in Napa.

Theresa Gianfortune

Theresa Gianfortune is chief of human resources at Marin General Hospital, the largest acute-care hospital and only trauma center in the county that employs nearly 1,100 people full-time. She has more than 20 years experience in HR and most recently served as vice president of human resources for Long Beach Memorial Medical Center and Miller’s Children’s Hospital in Southern California. Prior to that, she was vice president of human resources at Children’s Hospital of Orange County. Beyond her health care experience, Ms. Gianfortune received the National Human Resources Association of Southern California Compassionate Excellence Award in 2006. She earned her bachelor’s degree in organizational management from Daniel Webster College in New Hampshire.

Evert Hendrix

Evert Hendrix is the human resources executive for Sutter Medical Center of Santa Rosa. In his current role, Mr. Hendrix provides leadership to a full spectrum of human capital functions and initiatives for a workforce of 950 medical professionals. Previous to joining Sutter Health, Mr. Hendrix served as the principle HR leader for Rural/Metro Corp., a for-profit publicly traded ambulatory company with annual earnings of $600 million. He has also held human resources leadership positions with The Home Depot and United Parcel Service. Mr. Hendrix earned a B.A. in business from Evangel University.

Jane Hynes

Jane Hynes is the president, CEO and co-founder of W.A. Hynes & Company, which she started with her husband in 1976. Initially a specialty staffing firm in IT and consulting –which she said was started when the staffing industry “was in its infancy” – the company now has three North Bay locations and offers services in accounting, bookkeeping, clerical, construction, engineering, health care, hospitality, insurance, legal, light industrial, marketing and wine making. Her career began in nursing, and her husband started in chemistry.

Amy Keyser

Amy Keyser is vice president of human resources at Fireman’s Fund Insurance. She’s held her current position since January 2011 and is responsible for company human resource strategies aimed at creating a high-performance culture, attracting and retaining talent and improving developmental tools for employees. Ms. Keyser joined Fireman’s Fund in 2006 as vice president of employment law, ethics and corporate investigations. Prior to joining Fireman's Fund in 2006, Ms. Keyser worked at several premier labor and employment law firms. She holds a J.D. and bachelor's degree from the University of Virginia.

Michael Lusby

Michael Lusby is the regional vice president of Robert Half International. In his role, he oversees operations for the company’s offices in Santa Rosa, Novato and Fairfield.  Mr. Lusby joined Robert Half International in 2008 as the Sacramento branch manager, and has held positions of increasing responsibility since that time. Prior to joining the company, he spent three years as a regional manager for Accountants, Inc. He has over 14 years of professional staffing experience with an emphasis on the finance and accounting industries. He is involved with several nonprofits, including Dress for Success and similar non-profits, for which the company collects donations for low-income women looking to enter or re-enter the employment market. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo.

Kim McEachron

Kim McEachron is the vice president of engagement and inclusion for Medtronic Cardiac & Vascular.  The cardio and vascular division of Medtronic is the company’s largest with over 13,000 employees world-wide.  The Coronary & Renal Denervation and Endovascular & Peripheral businesses are headquartered at the Santa Rosa site. As of November 2010, her responsibilities include implementation of culture and organization development, total rewards,   global diversity and inclusion, talent management systems, leadership development and executive coaching. She’s been at the Santa Rosa site since 2000. Previously she was vice president of HR for Medtronic’s Neuro division, which she began in 1989. Ms. McEachron obtained a master’s in industrial relations from University of Minnesota-Twin Cities and a bachelor’s in sociology and anthropology from Carleton College.

Debra Miller

Debra Miller has been vice president of human resources for St. Joseph Health System-Sonoma County since 2007. In 1997, she was hired by the health care provider, which is among the largest nonprofit employers in the county. Its 2,288 employees work at locations including Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, the region’s only Level II trauma center, Petaluma Valley Hospital and mobile clinics and hospice care. Ms. Miller moved to the North Bay in 1994, when she came to work for the now-dissolved HMO Health Plan of the Redwoods. Ms. Miller sits on the board of directors for the Sonoma-Mendocino county chapter of the American Red Cross, is a Retirement Plan Committee member for St. Joseph Health System and is a former board member of the Community Child Care Council. She obtained her undergraduate degree from California State University-Northridge and a master’s in human resources and organizational management from the University of San Francisco.

David Ohman

David Ohman is the branch manager for Manpower’s North Bay branch, where he is responsible for territory that includes all of Sonoma and Mendocino counties and parts of Napa and Lake counties. Originally from Southern California, Mr. Ohman worked in the international transport industry for more than 20 years then in 2007 joined the global staffing company, which has more than 4,500 locations and has served the North Bay since 1975. He obtained a bachelor’s degree in economics from UCLA. He is also a recent graduate of Leadership Santa Rosa and a member of the LSR Alumni Association; is a board of director of PASCO, is an appointee on the Sonoma County Workforce Investment Board, where he serves on the Job Link Steering Committee; and serves on several advisory panels, including the Sonoma County Office of Education ROP Business Advisory Committee and the Santa Rosa Junior College Business Advisory Committee, among others.

Teresa Pollock

Teresa Pollock is a senior recruiter at The Personnel Perspective. Her background is in human resources management, executive search and recruitment. Her experience includes managing her own affiliate Executive Recruitment Agency, where she worked with and placed candidates for GE Financial Services division and Sage Clearing. Lisa Rogelstad

Lisa Rogelstad is chief executive officer and owner of Star Staffing, which was founded in 1998. Since becoming the owner in 2003, Star Staffing has expanded to staff more than 2,000 employees to various industries annually. Ms. Rogelstad has more than nine years in the staffing industry. Karen Vallecillo

Karen Vallecillo is the director of human resources at Silverado Resort and Spa, managed by Dolce Hotels and Resorts.  Ms. Vallecillo has been in her present position at Silverado for one year.  She joined Dolce Hotels and Resorts as Corporate Director of Human Resources in March 2009 assisting with the transition of the Seaview Resort, developing human resources initiatives and in June 2010, was placed as the director of human resources for the Silverado Resort and Spa transition. She is a graduate of the University of Minnesota and has spent the majority of her professional career in the hospitality industry.  She has held executive-level human resources roles with Marriott Corporation, Interstate Hotels. Prior to joining Dolce, she spent 10 years with Starwood Hotels & Resorts in their luxury/resort division. Since arriving in Napa, she has joined the Napa Valley Human Resources association and is active in the Society of Human Resources Management.

Solina Walton

Ms. Walton, who moved from England to California and has 30 years of experience in the industry, helped Perfect Timing forge relationships with organizations such as the Ritter Center, College of Marin and Sonoma Marin Area Rapid Transit (SMART). Mark Wood

Mark Wood is vice president of human resources of BioMarin Pharmaceutical, which has approximately 700 employees. He joined the pharmaceutical company in 2004 and oversees all HR functions as well as public relations and corporate communications. Before joining BioMarin, he was a sole proprietor of an HR consulting practice from 2002 to 2004 and previously worked as vice president of human resources and consulting for AG Consulting. He also previously was manager of compensation and quantitative analysis at Genentech and held numerous HR positions with Wells Fargo Bank. Mr. Wood obtained a master’s degree in industrial relations from Cornell University and a bachelor’s in psychology and management from State University of New York, Buffalo. He is also currently the vice chair of the North Bay Leadership Council and previously served as chair of the Marin County Workforce Investment Board.
