SANTA ROSA, June 17 – Becoming Independent, the North Bay’s largest nonprofit serving people with disabilities, raised a record $319,000 at its 20th annual Dinner Under the Stars at Imagery Winery in Sonoma Valley.
“I can’t say how incredibly happy and grateful we are,” said BI CEO Cami Weaver. “This is more than we have ever raised before.”
After paying the bills, Weaver estimates net proceeds to be well over $200,000. Last year, the event took in $181,475.
“At a time that the financial support BI normally receives from the State Legislature is being drastically reduced, the annual DUTS fundraiser is more important than ever. Thank you everybody,” she said.
The funds were raised in tickets, sponsorships and live and silent auctions at the dinner and auction Saturday, June 11 attended by 200.
