Business Journal names 67 Best Places to Work

NORTH BAY -- The Business Journal has selected a record 67 businesses and organizations as honorees in its sixth-annual Best Places to Work in the North Bay, it was announced today.

The winners were selected by the Business Journal editorial staff from more than 120 nominations based on several criteria, including the results of an anonymous employee survey and a company application that provided information on issues such as diversity, benefits and community involvement.

The companies range in size from 20 employees -- the minimum required -- to 4,500. There were nearly 5,000 responses to the employee survey.

Seven outstanding companies are six-time winners: Burr Pilger Mayer, Exchange Bank, First Community Bank, Ghirado, CPA, Kaiser Permanente Santa Rosa and San Rafael Medical Centers, Redwood Credit Union and Valley Tire & Brake. The total number of winners was up from 55 in 2010 and include many new participants.

"First, congratulations to the winners and thank you to all the companies that participated in the process over these last several months," said Business Journal Editor and Associate Publisher Brad Bollinger. "What was so clear about our winners is how hard everyone from management to the front line work at maintaining a environment where people feel valued and can thrive even in challenging times like now."

Profiles of the winners will appear in a special publication supplementing the Sept. 26 issue, and winners will be honored at a gala reception Sept. 29 at the Hyatt Hotel in Santa Rosa. For more information, call 707-521-5264.

The winners are listed by employee size and survey score (highest to lowest):20-50 employees
