SAN RAFAEL – Kaiser Permanente’s San Rafael Administration team will soon relocate from its existing location at 1600 Los Gamos Road, crossing over Highway 101 to 100 Smith Ranch Rd., where it has leased nearly 25,000 square feet of space.

Kaiser will take up the majority of the second floor at the three-story, 104,000-square-foot Regency Center in northern San Rafael, near the Marin County Civic Center and Northgate Shopping Mall.

The new location will house 92 employees from the Marin Commons location on Los Gamos, and another 19 employees from the San Rafael Medical Center.

Kaiser said it does not yet have an exact timeline for the planned move. The Smith Ranch Road location is actually smaller than the current location, which is about 26,500 square feet and on two separate floors.

The Smith Ranch Road location, according to Kaiser, will provide efficiencies of operations “and elimination of duplicate amenities, as staff will now be in one contiguous space.”

It’s also across the street from another administration building that Kaiser has occupied for several years.

Kaiser also said favorable commercial rental conditions made this a good to time for it to relocate.

Departments involved in the move, in addition to administration, include: clinical support functions, pharmacy administration, IT, chronic condition management, medical secretaries, imaging support, and health education and employee wellness. The new site will not be used by any Kaiser patients or members.
