Travis Credit Union in Vacaville announced it appointed Tim Truesdale to its board of directors. He was appointed to the board on Aug. 30 to fill a vacancy and will be subject to election in April of next year, according to the credit union by-laws. He currently is president and chief executive officer of Community Resource Associates, Inc., in Antioch. He holds a bachelor of arts degree in business administration from Northwestern Business College.

Wealth Management Consultants of Santa Rosa has hired Kay Marquet as a consultant. Ms. Marquet will be a part of the team that serves the needs of not-for-profit organizations in the community. She was president and CEO of Community Foundation Sonoma County for 17 years and led the Greater Worcester Community Foundation in Massachusetts for 13 years. Roy Hurd, president of Empire College in Santa Rosa, has been selected as a member of the Hall of Fame of the California Association of Private Postsecondary Schools (CAPPS). He will be inducted at the CAPPS annual conference in October. Mr. Hurd has been involved in private education and school administration for more than 40 years, the past 24 years as president of Empire College, a 750-student college offering diploma, associate degree, and doctorate programs in business, law, technology and medical professions.Health Care

Sutter Medical Group announced the addition of a new specialist in Solano County, Omar Murad, M.D., a board-certified endocrinologist and internal medicine physician. He is one of only a handful of these highly skilled physicians practicing in the North Bay. He received his undergraduate degree and his medical degree from the American University of Beirut in Lebanon. He completed his residency and chief residency in internal medicine at Staten Island University Hospital in Staten Island, N.Y., and his fellowship in endocrinology at SUNY Downstate University Hospital in Brooklyn, N.Y.Nonprofit Organizations

Rafael Rivero, police personnel technician at the Santa Rosa Police Department, has been elected to the board of directors at the Volunteer Center of Sonoma County. Gary Hartwick, executive vice president and chief credit officer at Exchange Bank, also was elected to the board of directors at the Volunteer Center of Sonoma County. The organization celebrates its 40th anniversary this year.Real Estate

Elizabeth "Betz" Tyler joined Terra Firma Global Partners, a locally owned and operated boutique real estate company, as a senior broker associate. Ms. Tyler, a 42-year Sonoma County resident, comes to the company with 25 years of real estate experience. She has served on numerous boards, such as the Volunteer Center of Sonoma County  and American Cancer Society. She is a member of the North Bay Association of Realtors, the California Association of Realtors and the National Association of Realtors. The company has offices in Napa, Sonoma and Marin counties and was founded in 2010 by real estate veterans Bill Facendini and Heidi Rickerd-Rizzo.Wine

Wilson Daniels created several new positions for its reorganized marketing department. Lisa Cleaver has been promoted to vice president of marketing and brand management for the company’s new General Market Brands team. She has worked for Wilson Daniels for five years as brand manager. Prior to Wilson Daniels, Ms. Cleaver worked for Jackson Wine Estates in various positions. Ann Feely has been appointed vice president of marketing and brand management of Terroir Brands. She was most recently vice president of wine sourcing and sales at Vinfolio. Prior to joining Vinfolio, Ms. Feely was general manager at Broadbent Selections. Kimberly Bowden has joined Wilson Daniels as marketing and brand manager. She was formerly a brand manager and director of portfolio projects at Delicato Family Vineyards and an associate marketing manager at Robert Mondavi.

Dr. Elizabeth Thach was named a master of wine by The Institute of Masters of Wine. Dr. Thach, of Sonoma State University’s Wine Business Institute, became the first female on the West Coast to achieve this distinction in May. Fewer than 300 individuals have earned the right to use the initials MW after their names, and Dr. Thach is one of only seven women in the U.S. to achieve this honor. Sen. Noreen Evans presented her a resolution.
