Peg Maddocks, Ph.D. has been named executive director of NapaLearns.. A 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, NapaLearns supports students, teachers and administrators in Napa County with the classroom technology, digital curriculum, funding and partnerships.  Ms. Maddocks will be responsible for advancing NapaLearns’ programs to improve the educational outcomes of students in public schools throughout Napa County. She’ll work collaboratively with the Napa County Office of Education and with the five school districts to deploy the latest computer technologies and inquiry-based curricula, provide training and coaching to classroom teachers and develop a robust data analysis capability to measure the effectiveness of the tools introduced to the county’s classrooms.Health Care

Sutter Pacific Medical Foundation has added medical oncologist Peter Brett, M.D., to its roster of doctors in Santa Rosa. Dr. Brett is board-certified in Medical Oncology by the American Board of Internal Medicine and received his medical degree from Stanford University. Before coming to Sutter Pacific, Dr. Brett completed an internship and residency at Stanford University Hospital and Clinics. He also completed a fellowship with the National Cancer Institute. His practice has focused on the treatment of melanoma. Dr. Brett’s offices are located at 4702 Hoen Ave. in Santa Rosa.

California EMS Authority Director Howard Backer recently announced the selection of Sonoma Life Support paramedic Debbi Rath for a Community Service Award for providing dedicated community EMS service in her efforts with Mothers Against Drunk Drivers and Every 15 Minutes. She was recognized at a State EMS Awards Luncheon in San Francisco on Dec. 7, 2011. Ms. Rath is currently a paramedic preceptor, member of Mothers Against Drunk Drivers, and a keynote speaker for the Every 15 Minutes program.
