SANTA ROSA -- The board of directors for YWCA Sonoma County has named Madeleine Keegan O'Connell as executive director.

Ms. Keegan O'Connell joins the organization after a history of experience in the non-profit arena, most recently managing non-profit support and community relations for Sonoma Bank in Santa Rosa.

"Her leadership and experience in these areas coupled with her personal commitment to volunteerism and community activism make her the ideal person to lead us to the next level as we look to broaden our scope and enhance services in the Sonoma County community," wrote board President Jayne Cohill, in a letter announcing the appointment.

Founded in 1975, YWCA Sonoma County works to provide support to the victims of domestic violence and sexual assault and advocates for civil rights.

Ms. Keegan O'Connell replaces former Executive Director Denise Frey.
