SOLANO COUNTY – State data show that the unemployment rate in Solano County has trended downward during the past five years, along with an increase in available jobs that began in early 2009.
However, that job growth – 2,400 positions over the past year -- does not extend across all industries. The farming and information sectors adding no net positions over the past year, and 100 jobs were added in construction, according to the most recent numbers from the California Employment Development Dept.
To explore the issues affecting the various industries in Solano County, the North Bay Business Journal will hold its annual conference, Impact Solano, on Sept. 26.
Opening the conference to discuss the top issues shaping the future of business in Solano County will be keynote speaker Dr. Robert Eyler, economics department chair at Sonoma State University and director of the center for regional economic analysis.
In addition to Dr. Eyler, a panel of leading voices from the business community is being assembled to discuss the challenges and opportunities in Solano County.
The conference will be held from 8 to10:30 a.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn in Fairfield. Seating is limited: tickets are $45 per person and $450 for a table of 10, and tickets include a subscription to the North Bay Business Journal for new subscribers. Continental breakfast is included.
