Cotati-based medical transportation provider ProTransport-1 has received an undisclosed investment from Boston's New Heritage Capital, one that the company said will help bolster ambitious growth initiatives.

Sapheon Inc. in Santa Rosa announced one year data in a 38-patient clinical study of the VenaSeal Sapheon Closure System, an advanced approach to the treatment of saphenous vein disease based on a proprietary medical adhesive. All patients were treated without the use of general or tumescent anesthesia or post-procedure compression stockings, and all patients returning for follow up experienced clinical improvement at 1, 3, 6, and 12 months with complete closure rate of over 94% after one year. According to the study’s chief clinical investigator, Dr. Jose I. Almeida of Vascular Device Partners, Miami, Florida, “Non-thermal adhesive technology for the treatment of saphenous vein incompetence is proving to be safe and durable. At one-year follow-up, the results of this study are quite comparable to methods using thermal ablation.”Awards

As part of an exclusive partnership and licensing agreement, Boonvile's Anderson Valley Brewing Company and the bourbon brand Wild Turkey announced that they will be teaming to facilitate the brewing of world-class Bourbon-barrel aged craft beers using repurposed American oak barrels from the Wild Turkey Distillery in Kentucky. The initial production from this first-of-its-kind collaboration will be a Bourbon barrel aged Stout featuring Anderson Valley’s award-winning Barney Flats Oatmeal Stout. This draft-only production will be released in the fall and will be followed by packaged products in early 2013.
