Santa Rosa Surgery Center plans hospital location

SANTA ROSA -- With construction well underway at Sutter Medical Center of Santa Rosa’s new $284 million hospital north of Santa Rosa, a second major health provider plans to lease space in a new medical office building next door.

Santa Rosa Surgery Center, currently located at 1111 Sonoma Ave. on the east side of the city, signed a lease with campus developer Hammes Company for the 80,000-square-foot, integrated class A office building to be located at the southeast corner of the Mark West Springs Road and Highway 101 interchange.

Over the past four months, Hammes has signed leases with two anchor tenants in the new medical offices: Sutter Pacific Medical Foundation and the surgery center.

"We expect to lease the remaining space fairly quickly, given its state-of-the-art, environmentally sustainable design which will qualify the facility for LEED Silver certification," said Jim Kobayashi, Hammes development manager (, 949-705-0900,

Brookfield, Wis.-based Hammes, which is leading all development, leasing and financing initiatives for the medical office building, has received additional interest from both large users and several smaller potential tenants. Occupancy is expected to start in summer 2014, the medical office building will be home to providers of family medicine, ambulatory services and a mix of specialty surgeons, including orthopedics.

“When the new campus opens, it will provide quality and excellence in the provision of care through all private patient rooms, advanced imaging technology, electronic medical records and accessible outpatient services,” says Mike Purvis, Sutter Medical Center of Santa Rosa chief administration officer.
