Nearly two dozen North Bay restaurants were named to the "Bib Gourmand" list, a highly sought-after designation among lower-priced gourmet restaurateurs, according to The Michelin Guide, which also awards the more famous Michelin stars.
In the 2013 San Francisco edition, 21 different types of cuisine are represented among Bib Gourmand restaurants in San Francisco, the East Bay, Wine Country (Sonoma and Napa counties), Marin, the South Bay and the Peninsula. A total of 70 establishments made the list, 22 of them from Marin, Sonoma and Napa counties.

The 2013 Bib Gourmand venues were selected by Michelin's anonymous food inspectors and they represent restaurants that serve two courses and a glass of wine or dessert for $40 or less, tax and gratuity not included.
Michelin (www.michelinguide.com) said the Bib Gourmand venues are selected by anonymous inspectors who dine across the area regularly. Local inspectors are trained to apply the same methods used by Michelin inspectors for decades throughout the world. Michelin inspectors pay all their bills in full, the organization said.
