Napa-based Coombs & Dunlap recently hired Karl Frisinger as an associate. His practice will focus on employment law, family law, and wine law and compliance, along with related litigation and transactional practice. Mr. Frisinger previously worked for six years at a boutique litigation law firm. His practice primarily consisted of representing clients in a variety of employment-related cases involving personal injury, wrongful termination, discrimination and whistleblower claims. A Napa native, he received his B.S. in finance from the University of Minnesota and his J.D. from William Mitchell College of Law.Nonprofits

Eric Fischer of Novato has joined Homeward Bound of Marin as chief financial officer, bringing more than 20 years of experience in community nonprofit organizations to his new position. He will oversee all financial operations at Homeward Bound, the county’s main provider of shelter and services for homeless families and adults, which serves an average of 1,400 people per year and has an annual budget of more than $5 million. Mr. Fischer's experience includes 10 years with the Child Care Coordinating Council of San Mateo County as director of finance and administration, followed by a stint as CFO for Hospice of Marin (now Hospice by the Bay.) In the last five years, Mr. Fischer served as managing director of finance and operations, and later interim executive director, of Breakthrough Collaborative, a national education collaborative.Residential Real Estate

Connie Irwin of Pacific Union International in Kentfield was named "Realtor of the Year" by the Marin Association of Realtors.  The award is presented annually to an individual who represents the standards of judgment, principles, ethical standards, outstanding loyalty and devotion to the advancement of the association. Ms.  Irwin has been a resident of Marin since 1969, and a real estate agent  since 1990.  She holds the Certified Residential Specialist designation and works with her son, Fletcher Irwin, at Pacific Union International in Kentfield.

Claudine Whitney of Stewart Title in Novato was named "Affiliate of the Year"; Justine Fairey of Frank Howard Allen in San Rafael received the "Distinguished Service Award"; Gene Laico of Bradley Real Estate in Novato was presented with the "Making a Difference Award"; and Arun Burrell of Heath Real Estate in San Rafael  received the "Next Generation Award."

Kevin Brown, 2013 president-elect of the California Association of Realtors, installed Jack Wilkinson as 2013 president of the Marin Association of Realtors. Mr. Wilkinson is a realtor with Bradley Real Estate in San Rafael.   

Mr. Brown also installed the following individuals from Marin as new officers effective  Jan. 1: President-elect Blaine Morris of Frank Howard Allen in Greenbrae; Treasurer Margaret Deedy of Coldwell Banker in Greenbrae; and Secretary Judy LeMarr of Frank Howard Allen in Mill Valley.

Immediate Past-President David Smadbeck of Coldwell Banker in Greenbrae will serve as an ex-officio member of the Board of Directors. The following directors were installed for 2013: Mr. Burrell of Heath Real Estate in San Rafael; Erika Davito of Marin Modern Real Estate  in San Rafael; David Doyle of Alain Pinel, Realtors in Corte Madera; Kathleen Freitag of Frank Howard Allen in Novato; Jill Hill of Coldwell Banker in Greenbrae; Matt Hughes of Heath Real Estate in San Rafael; Yoko Kasai of Front Porch Realty Group in San Rafael; Marilyn Riede of Coldwell Banker in Greenbrae; and Nate Sumner of Coldwell Banker in San Rafael.Wine
