San Francisco-based Burr Pilger Mayer, Inc., which has a Santa Rosa office, appointed Curtis Burr chief executive officer. First District Sonoma County Supervisor Susan Gorin said Pat Gilardi will be her district director. It's the sole staff person for each supervisor and responsible for constituent services, scheduling and representing the supervisor throughout the community when the supervisor is unable. Ms. Gilardi worked for the Marin Independent Journal since 1987 managing advertising sales. In addition, she had been a member of the Cotati City Council since 2000, resigning to become district director. Ms. Gilardi grew up in Marin County. She attended local schools, including College of Marin, where her focus was on journalism.Nonprofits

Women's Initiative for Self Employment, an entrepreneurial training and funding nonprofit organization, elected Kim Kaselionis to its national governing board. Ms. Kaselionis is former CEO and chairman of Novato-based Circle Bank, which was acquired by Umpqua Bank. As a result of the nonprofit's loan program, 12 graduates of Women’s Initiative small business training program for low-income women received a total of $140,000 in loans to start or expand their businesses. Ms. Kaselionis was also named “Woman Entrepreneur of the Year” by Women’s Initiative in 2012.Transportation

The SMART board of directors unanimously elected Marin County Supervisor Judy Arnold as board chairman and Barbara Pahre as vice chairman. Ms. Arnold and Ms. Pahre will lead the SMART board for two-year terms. Ms. Arnold is president of the Marin County Board of Supervisors and represents its Fifth District. She joined the SMART board in January 2009 and served as vice chairman in 2011 and 2012. Ms. Arnold also serves as vice chairman of the Transportation Authority of Marin, vice president of Marin Transit District and is a member of the boards of the Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District and Marin Economic Forum. Ms. Pahre has served SMART since the district was established by state law in 2003, first as a commissioner and then as a board member. She previously served as vice chairman during 2010 and has also chaired the Real Estate Committee as well as serving on the Executive Committee. Ms. Pahre serves on the board of directors of the Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District.Wine

Dana Estates promoted Cameron Vawter to winemaker for the Rutherford-based cabernet sauvignon producer. Mr. Vawter previously held the position as director of production at Dana and was the winery’s first employee in 2005. He also oversaw the construction of the Howard Backen--designed winery, which was completed in 2008. Additionally, along with Philippe Melka, Mr. Vawter crafted both the 2007 and 2010 “Lotus Vineyard” cab, both of which received 100-point scores in Wine Advocate. Mr. Melka will continue to consult for Dana as director of winemaking.
