Sutter Health West Bay Region leadership appointed Brian Alexander as its new chief administrative officer, the senior administrative role overseeing Novato Community Hospital. Effective July 1, he will step into the position held by long-time Novato Community administrator Anne Hosfeld, who is retiring at the end of June. Mr. Alexander, who has served as Novato Community's assistant administrator, has been a member of Sutter Health’s West Bay Region management team since 2011 and has expertise in strategy and business development as well as hospital operations. He holds a Bachelors of Arts from Northwestern University and an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Before joining Sutter Health, Mr. Alexander worked in managed care contracting and human resources for the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago. Prior to that, he was a consultant with Health CareFutures in Chicago.

David Gullion, an oncologist at Marin Specialty Care/Marin Cancer Institute, was recently honored by San Rafael-based nonprofit Zero Breast Cancer for his efforts in treating women with breast cancer and leadership in integrative oncology care. Dr. Gullion, medical director of Marin General Hosptial's Center for Integrative Health and Wellness, was named the "2013 Healing Professional," which was presented at the 14th annual Honor Thy Healer program in early May at the Mill Valley Community Center.Insurance

Tangram Insurance Services, a managing general agency based in Petaluma, promoted Rekha Skantharaja to president of the company. Ms. Skantharaja has over a decade of experience in the insurance industry with both the brokerage and underwriting sides of the business. Her career began in San Francisco in 2001, assembling management liability programs for Fortune 1000 companies both publicly and privately held in industries such as technology, bio-tech, e-commerce and venture capital. Her initial efforts were in the health care niche and later expanded to entertainment, ocean marine, public entities, bio-tech, and others. In 2009, Ms. Skantharaja became senior vice president of Tangram Insurance Services, in which she was responsible for business development, operations and underwriting. Ms. Skantharaja is a graduate of Boston University where she earned a B.A. in international relations.

Woodruff-Sawyer & Co. appointed Stan Loar chairman of the board as Doug Morton transitions from chairman to executive director. Charlie Rosson will continue as CEO. As executive director, Mr. Morton will focus on business development, key strategic initiatives, staff recruitment and mentoring. Mr. Loar will become chairman effectively immediately. Before becoming vice chair, he served as Woodruff-Sawyer’s CEO for 13 years. He is also past chairman of Assurex Global and its international executive committee.Solar

Novato- and Sonoma-based SolarCraft named Chet Stromberg director of sales and marketing. Mr. Stromberg brings 25 years of direct renewable energy project development including project management, engineering services, and sales and marketing experience. He has personally sold, engineered and managed over 500 residential & commercial solar projects. After graduating with Renewable Energy Engineering from Humboldt State University, Mr. Stromberg volunteered his service to the US Peace Corps and served in the Cook Islands, Polynesia. Upon completion of his two year service with the Peace Corps, the Prime Minister offered him a position as director of special project.
