SANTA ROSA -- Ware Malcomb, an international architectural firm, was selected to design Sutter Health's forthcoming 80,00-square-foot medical office building next to the $284 million hospital currently under construction in northern Santa Rosa.
The selection was announced by the developer and owner of the medical campus, Wisconsin-based Hammes & Company, which has leased 74 percent of all space, according to Sutter Health. Sutter Medical Center of Santa Rosa and associated physicians will be the major tenant of the multi-tenant building. Construction on the medical office building will begin this fall and is expected to be completed by mid 2014, along with the new hospital.
The project includes the design of a three-story, 80,000-square-foot medical office building, next to the 82-bed, 316,000-square-foot hospital that will replace Sutter Health's aging Chanate facility. The design will include type II business occupancy throughout the building, Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD) III design, predominantly punched windows, storefront accents in key entry areas and an entry canopy for patient drop-off, according to Ware Malcomb, whose Irvine office is designing the building.
