NAPA -- San Francisco-based Flynn Properties purchased luxury resort The Carneros Inn southwest of Napa and plans to make "significant" property upgrades.

It is the second luxury hotel purchase for Flynn Properties, which also owns Esperanza, the Auberge resort in Los Cabos, Mexico, according to the buyer and The PlumpJack Group, the seller.

The sale is effective Thursday. The purchase price wasn't disclosed.

"Napa Valley is one of the most thriving U.S. markets, with strong and steady demand and growth, and The Carneros Inn has consistently proven itself to be one of the best-performing hotels in wine country," said Greg Flynn, founder, chairman and CEO of Flynn Properties, in a written announcement.

Flynn Properties plans to make "significant enhancements" to the property, including common areas, room amenities and restaurant offerings. PlumpJack will continue as management company of the Carneros Inn.

The hotel, which recently celebrated its 10th anniversary, features 86 private cottages and suites, luxury home rentals, three restaurants and other amenities.

Flynn Properties was formed in 1994. In addition to commercial real estate and hotel activities, the company owns 640 Applebees and Taco Bell restaurants in 27 states -- the largest franchise group in the United States, according to the announcement.

The PlumpJack Group owns a number of cafes and a retail clothing store in Squaw Valley, along with wine stores in San Francisco and three Napa Valley wineries: PlumpJack Winery, Cade Winery and Odette Estate.
