Describe the facilities you oversee: My responsibility includes overseeing the needs of 11 campus facilities throughout Napa and San Joaquin counties. These are winery facilities that operate from crush to bottling production. Also included are a number of small facilities that incorporate the same crush and bottling functions as well as hospitality and retail sales rooms.
Tell us a little bit about yourself: I love the challenge of multiple project balance at one time. I grew up in St. Helena and after college I joined Trinchero Family Estates where I have worked for 20 years. I have also been an assistant chief with the St. Helena Volunteer Fire Department for 14 years. My lovely wife and I live in St. Helena.
What do you see as the role of the facilities managers within your organization?: Providing excellent customer service to co-workers while always keeping in mind the fiscal responsibility of my department to the winery.
What is the achievement you are most proud of?: My participation in obtaining ISO certification, SQF (Safe Quality Food) certification and working with our EH&S (Environmental Health and Safety) Team.
What is your biggest challenge today?: Staying consistent and up to date with regulatory affairs including both state and local compliance requirements for storm water issues, for example, when changes are occurring rapidly.
What the next major project either under way or on the horizon?: Expansion of our Lodi facility and all the details that are associated with such a large project to create a state-of-the-art production and distribution center.
What product or service would/or is helping you do your job more effectively?: The ability to be in constant contact with co-workers using today’s advanced cellular technology.
How do you think your profession will change in the next five years?: Technological advances will assist in daily routine tasks.
Most admired businessperson outside your organization: Bruce Lee, a man ahead of his time as well as honest and introspective.
