Wells Fargo (NYSE: WFC) has launched a new Web-based portal featuring educational resources for small business owners, along with a national contest to award up to $25,000 to five owners and a pledge of $100 billion in new small business lending by 2018.
The initiative, “Wells Fargo Works for Small Business,” hinges in part on a website (www.wellsfargoworks.com) featuring a number of articles, stories and videos that focus on best practices for the various challenges for new and existing businesses. Subjects range from payroll management to sales calls, and refer users to various services offered by the $1.5 trillion-asset company.
“Wells Fargo Works for Small Business is our commitment to help small businesses in more ways than ever before. It encompasses the products, services and resources needed for small business owners to take the next step to reach their business goals,” said Jamie Moldafsky, Wells Fargo chief marketing officer in an announcement of the initiative.
Those interested in the contest are asked to submit a two-and-a-half minute video or a 600-word essay responding to questions about their business, with more information available at www.wellsfargoworks.com/project. Winners will receive additional mentorship and services along with the $25,000 prize. The deadline for submission is June 30, with winners announced in September.
