The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors approved the contract for Mark Bramfitt to serve as the Sonoma Local Agency Formation Commission's (LAFCO) executive officer. He served on the board of the Valley of the Moon Water District for over a decade, being elected first in 2001. During this time, he was the board chair on three occasions, and served as the interim general manager for the water district in 2012. During his time on the board of the water district, he served on the LAFCO board as well, acting as its vice chair and chair of the policy committee in 2012. He has also served on the Sonoma Valley Groundwater Basin Advisory Panel, Sonoma Valley Citizens Advisory Commission and the Sonoma Valley Housing Affordability Advisory Group.Health Care

The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors approved the appointment of a new health officer, Karen Milman, M.D., M.P.H. She is the current prevention division director of public health for Seattle and King County, responsible for a budget of $46 million and staff of 180-plus. She starts Aug. 5. She was health officer of Nevada County from 2009--2012, providing medical oversight of all clinical services and administration of public health programs with achievement in smoking reduction, chronic disease reduction, integration of public health and primary care and emergency preparedness.
