Women in Business winners over the years

See the list of winners since 2001.

We are proud to recognize 25 women with our annual awards this year.

They come from a broad spectrum of professions including wine, biotech, law, accounting, banking, health care, wealth management, higher education, human resources and small business. We expanded our field of potential nominees this year to encourage more women who work in the fields of science and engineering which resulted in some outstanding nominees.

In each of the award winner profiles which follow (with expanded profiles on at www.nbbj.news/wib), there’s a consistent theme.

One of determination and sense of purpose as each woman found their vision and then pursued their dream to become leaders, educators, innovators and entrepreneurs. “Don’t shy away from something you’ve never done before. Just because you haven’t done it doesn’t mean you can’t,” says one award winner.

Each woman credits someone along the way who helped them, a loved one, colleague or friend and now many offer their advice to other women following in their footsteps. One winner says, “Know yourself, stay strong and yet be open to growth and change every day.”

Our thanks to the 73 people who submitted nominations and congratulations as well to the 52 women who were nominated this year.

Our thanks, too, to Wells Fargo for underwriting these recognitions and to our presenting sponsors, Anderson Zeigler law firm, Burr Pilger Mayer, Exchange Bank, Kaiser Permanente, Redwood Credit Union, Smith Dollar attorneys at law, Sonoma State University and St. Joseph Health–Sonoma County along with corporate sponsor George Petersen Insurance. You stepped forward to support women business leaders. Thank you.

Finally, congratulations to our recipients.
