In 2015 Arrow Benefits Group established an award-winning community advocacy program offering the latest information on CPR, health and wellness as part of an ongoing training series donated to the community.

As a single-source solution provider for managing the complexities of employee benefits, Arrow offers advice, customized programs, personalized human resources services along with free wellness information.

“We’ve partnered with numerous health care industry leaders to provide both lectures and classes,” said founding partner Jordan Shields. “Our goal is to offer a variety of tools and techniques that will vastly improve the lives of each attendee.”

The idea for the series was sparked by inquiries from clients looking for support for health-related issues.

“We work with St. Joseph Health, Petaluma Healthcare District, Whole Foods and others to inspire those attending toward better living,” Shields said.

Arrow is also heavily involved with the North Bay Children’s Center, where Shields has been an active supporter for over 20 years. The center honored him for his participation and dedication. He is also on the advisory board and involved with the capital campaign.

Both Jordan and Mariah Shields serve on the board of United Cerebral Palsy of the North Bay (UCP) where Jordan is a cabinet member and trusted adviser. Arrow has worked with the local organization since its formation seven years ago.

Last year partner Mariah Shields launched a Petaluma-based nonprofit called 100 Sonoma County People Who Care. This organization gives away $10,000 or more, raised by asking 100 people invited to attend a gala (featuring food, wine and good times) to donate $100 each. At the annual event, five deserving nonprofit finalists give short presentations followed by a vote by those present to determine the winner.

Several Arrow partners have dedicated over 25 years to Big Brothers, Big Sisters of the North Bay serving as “BIG’s” while also being continually involved with fundraising and donating to their cause.

The company and its employees have also contributed time and funds to other community programs, such as COTS, Feeding the Hungry and Bowl for Children, to mention a few.

“The philosophy at Arrow has always been one of giving back to the community,” said Arrow HR specialist Jennifer Pierre. “This includes business transactions where advocating for the client extends beyond the norm by taking the time to go the extra mile for each person we work with. The founding partners and the entire team understand the importance of placing value on taking care of people and, through them, the world around us.”
