Antonio Galloni, founder of the wine website Vinous, will be the keynote speaker for the North Bay Business Journal’s Wine Industry Conference on April 28.
Galloni, whose website went live in 2013, was lead critic at “The Wine Advocate.”
At the conference, he will also moderate a panel discussion on “The Wine Life” with Tom Klein, fourth-generation farmer and proprietor of Rodney Strong Vineyards; Emma Swain, CEO of St. Supery Estate Vineyards and Winery in Rutherford; and Andy Beckstoffer, owner of Beckstoffer Vineyards.
Another conference highlight will be a look at the current market for wine industry mergers and acquisitions by Kevin O'Brien, senior vice president of Zepponi & Company of Santa Rosa, and a presentation on the status of the import wine market by Dr. Damien Wilson, Hamel Family Chair in Wine Business at the Sonoma State University Wine Business Institute.
Also, Matt Parker, vice president of Acquisitions and Sales at Silverado Investment Management Company, will join colleague, Eric Pooler, vice president of Winery Relations, to discuss the latest changes in the wine industry’s labor market.
In addition, Michael Swanson, Ph.D., chief agriculture economist at Wells Fargo, will discuss the impact of the strong dollar on the wine business.
The event will also feature CannaCraft Inc.'s Vice President of Public Affairs and Policy Nick Caston.
