North Bay Maker Awards highlight local producers, manufacturers, makers
Meet the makers. The winners of the 2016 North Bay Makers Awards make our lives better in diverse ways.
One company creates small cameras to travel through water pipes, making sure they are safe. From small to huge, workers at another award winner mill 20,000-pound chunks of steel. Honored this year too is a firm whose organic treats are made of seaweed.
Then there are those who feed the mind, like the group housing innovators working in fields like robotics and software development. Some businesses labor to help the environment - from recycling to saving water during winemaking.
“Too often our manufacturing companies labor in obscurity without the broader community being aware of how they improve our daily lives,” said Business Journal Publisher Brad Bollinger. “These awards were created six years ago to give these organizations the recognition they deserve.”
All the firms in our profiles, each written by Gary Quackenbush, were honored at a special North Bay Business Journal awards reception July 21.
