Fire destroys building, big rig at Santa Rosa trucking company

Fire gutted a building at a Fulton trucking company in northern Santa Rosa early Wednesday, also burning a big rig parked inside, according to a Rincon Valley fire official.

The River Road fire was reported just before 1 a.m. and Rincon Valley firefighters from the nearby Larkfield station arrived to find flames engulfing the shop, estimated at 5,000-squre-feet, said fire Capt. Neil Nicholson.

The Hansen Transport shop was at River and Fulton roads. An office in the building and a second vehicle parked nearby also burned, Nicholson said.

Cal Fire, Windsor, Santa Rosa fire agencies also responded. Firefighters initially were concerned about a possible nearby fuel tank and downed lines, which turned out to be cable and phone wires.

The fire was under control in 33 minutes, according to the dispatch log. Crews were at the property, at River and Fulton roads, until about 3 a.m.

An investigation into what caused the fire was due to start later Wednesday morning.
