One of the largest glass-packaging suppliers in the U.S. has opened a direct-sales office in Napa.
Ardagh Group Glass – North America, a division of Ardagh Group (NYSE: ARD), which makes bottles and other containers for the food and beverage industry, on Aug. 8 said it opened the office to better-serve Ardagh Direct customers. In January, the Ardagh Direct program launched, allowing wineries of all sizes west of the Rocky Mountains to purchase wine bottles directly from Ardagh Group.
Ardagh is the sixth-largest employer among wine packaging to the North Coast, according to the Business Journal's Book of Lists, and said it is the largest supplier of glass wine bottles in the U.S. Ardagh and Gallo Glass are the only wine-bottle companies that make all their glass in the U.S.
“The decision to expand our presence in the Napa Valley was a logical step in Ardagh Direct’s business-growth strategy,” said Jeff Oberti, vice president of sales for Ardagh Direct. “The area is one of the world’s premier viticulture regions, and our office, centrally located within the heart of the wine producing region in California, will provide wineries with access to Ardagh Direct’s sales and customer support teams, allowing them to meet face-to-face with us and visit our office to view product offerings.”
The Ardagh Direct program currently is only available in the U.S. Bottles in a variety of sizes, colors and styles are available in less-than-truckload (LTL) quantities.
Ardagh also operates a full-service 1.02 million-square-foot distribution facility in Fairfield. It is said to be the largest repack center in the region, designed to meet the bottling and distribution needs of West Coast wineries.
The company uses recycled glass and raw materials from domestic sources. It employs approximately 800 employees on the West Coast, with a total U.S. workforce of approximately 5,500.
With a wine-industry history that spans more than 125 years, Ardagh Group, Glass – North America is the largest producer of glass wine bottles made in the U.S. Ardagh Group produces glass wine bottles from its glass manufacturing facilities located in the heart of the three major wine-producing areas in the country, including California, the Pacific Northwest and the New York State area.
The 2,404-square-foot new Ardagh Direct office (707-200-9350, ardaghgroup.com/glass, email@example.com) is located at 550 Gateway Drive, Suite 80, in Napa.
