Sonoma County Alliance: 40 years of local-issues advocacy

Sonoma County Alliance, whose members are concerned about the economic, social and environmental development of the county, turns 40 this year.

Started in 1975, one of its earliest and largest efforts was backing the construction of Warm Springs Dam, creating the Lake Sonoma reservoir that serves more than 700,000 people in Sonoma and Marin counties. Other projects were widening of Highway 101 through Sonoma County and the expansion of Charles M. Schulz–Sonoma County Airport to accommodate increased airline service.
