Providence St. Joseph buys Medicast for house calls

Providence St. Joseph Health, the company formed in July from two nonprofit organizations, has acquired a digital health care development and services company.

Among its services, 3-year-old Medicast allows customers to book a physician house call. Those seeking the service can book it by using their smartphones.

Providence St. Joseph Health operates 16 acute care hospitals, home health agencies, hospice care, outpatient services, skilled nursing facilities, community clinics and physician groups in California and Washington. That includes former St. Joseph properties such as Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital and Annadel Medical Group in Santa Rosa, Petaluma Valley Hospital, and Queen of the Valley Medical Center and an affiliated physician group in Napa.

A purchase price was not disclosed.
