Epicenter Sports and Entertainment (see story) opened the first phase of the new 118,000-square-foot mega complex in Santa Rosa. Now open at 3215 Coffey Ln., patrons can enjoy Sports City, featuring three soccer fields and multisport court, California’s largest Anytime Fitness, Rockin’ Jump Trampoline Park, and Starbucks. In addition to the sports attractions, Epicenter will feature 7Ten Social, an upscale bowling lounge. Epicenter will employ more than 300 people.

Batteries Plus Bulbs, offering nearly 60,000 different types of batteries, light bulbs and related products for all household and business needs, opened a location at 313 McDowell Blvd. in Petaluma. Store Hours are Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.–8 p.m.; Saturday, 8 a.m.–7 p.m.; and Sunday, 10 a.m.–5 p.m. The phone number is 707-794-2244. According to the company, owners Ken Bean and Julie Kurasek plan to open four outlets in Napa and Sonoma counties.

This first of more than nine Dunkin’ Donuts locations planned for Napa, Sonoma, Marin and Solano counties by franchising company Shiva Developments opened in American Canyon on Oct. 26. The new restaurant, located at 410 Napa Junction Rd. in American Canyon, will be open 5 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week.

AAA recently held a grand opening for its Santa Rosa Mendocino Avenue office at 2180 Mendocino Ave. The company stated the office will be staffed with AAA insurance agents, providing life, auto and home insurance. AAA memberships, AAA travel assistance and select DMV services also will be available. The branch will offer maps and tour books are free of charge to all members.

BANKING

Redwood Credit Union completed its 2016 United Way workplace giving campaign, raising a total of $105,560 to support United Way of the Wine Country. According to the credit union, this year’s campaign exceeded its goal of $105,000, as well as last year’s campaign total of $102,866.

HEALTH CARE

Marin General Hospital received the 2017 Stroke Care Excellence Award for the fourth consecutive year (2014-2017) from Healthgrades, an online resource on health care for consumers. According to the hospital, the ranking places Marin General Hospital among the top 10 percent of hospitals in the country for stroke care. Marin General Hospital is also the only hospital in the Marin, Napa, Solano and Sonoma counties to be named a Five-Star Recipient in the Treatment of Stroke by Healthgrades for the fifth consecutive year (2013-2017).

Kaiser Permanente Santa Rosa Medical Center donated $100,000 to Santa Rosa Junior College’s 100th anniversary Campaign, designating the money to fund health sciences programs. The campaign is focused on support for the following four areas: student scholarships and support, faculty development, instructional programs and equipment, and endowment growth. To date, $2.6 million has been raised toward the campaign goal, the health provider stated.

HOSPITALITY

Meritage Resort and Spa in Napa received the United Cerebral Palsy of the North Bay’s Employer of the Year award for Napa County. According to the resort, the honor recognizes business partners in Napa, Sonoma and Marin counties whose exceptional activities, achievements and dedication exemplify UCP’s mission to educate, advocate and provide support services to ensure a Life Without Limits for people with disabilities. It also acknowledges that each workplace has made contributions toward employing people with disabilities.

Napa Valley received “2017 Best Of Wine Tourism” regional recognition in several categories. The 2017 Best Of regional San Francisco | Napa Valley winners are Poetry Inn – Accommodations, Auberge du Soleil – Art and culture, Trefethen Family Vineyards – Architecture and landscape, Conn Creek Winery – Innovative wine tourism experience, Phifer Pavitt Winery – Sustainable wine tourism practices, Napa Valley Balloons Inc. – Wine tourism service. The 2017 Regional Wine Tourism Award of Merit winners are Milliken Creek Inn & Spa - Accommodation, Trinchero Napa Valley – Architecture and landscape, Charbay Winery & Distillery – Innovative Wine tourism experience, Bounty Hunter Wine Bar & Smokin’ BBQ – Wine tourism restaurant.

INSURANCE

Sadler & Company Insurance Brokers, Inc. in Kentfield has earned a 2016 Safeco Insurance Make More Happen Award for its community work with the Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Santa Rosa. The award includes a $4,000 donation to the Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Santa Rosa from Safeco Insurance. The Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Santa Rosa and independent insurance agent, Vince Ginocchio of Sadler & Company Insurance Brokers, Inc. also had a story featured on Safeco.com, which awarded the nonprofit an additional $1,000.

NONPROFIT

PDI Surgery Center, providing oral surgery needs to children from 33 Northern California counties, announced it raised $150,000 at the recent 10th annual Make Kids Smile event in Santa Rosa. Organizers said among the items the money will be used for is replacing equipment, help for patients with transportation challenges, treating children with severe tooth decay and youth with special needs, as well as education of parents, children and the community about dental hygiene and good nutrition.
