Seeking profitability and growth, JCPenney plans 138 store closures nationally, but no North Bay locations are on the list issued by the company.

The company stated today that 5,000 jobs will be affected.

With four locations targeted for closure in California, the nearest location to the North Bay on the list is Richmond. The other California stores on the list are Downtown Bishop, Bishop; Sunwest Plaza, Lodi; and The Village at Orange, Orange.

The North Bay stores are located in Santa Rosa, Ukiah and Fairfield.

The company stated it is in the process of identifying relocation opportunities within the company for those people whose jobs are going to be cut. As for the stores, it stated most affected stores will begin the liquidation process on April 17
