Lind Marine of Petaluma, a dredge, barge and tug boat service based in Petaluma, has acquired Moose Boats, an aluminum commercial boat building company that reports the sale of more than 100 crafts for the military, fire departments and law enforcement.
Last September, Moose Boats relocated from its original facility at Port Sonoma Marina in Petaluma to a larger production facility on Mare Island in Vallejo.
Until this week, the sale was reported only in trade publications. Lind operates a 5-acre shipyard and dry dock on Mare Island in Vallejo. The acquisition announcement was included in the April issue of the City of Vallejo’s newsletter.
“The co-location of Moose Boats at Lind Marine’s shipyard will allow enhanced fabrication and design services for various ship-repair and maintenance services,” the city publication stated.
Since its inception in the early 20th century, Lind Marine has evolved from a small-scale oyster shell mining operation to providing a full range of commercial marine services including towing, dredging, sand mining, aggregate barging and ship lightering services.
Moose Boats, founded in 2000 by Roger Fleck, has constructed patrol and law enforcement vessels for agencies throughout the U.S., including the the U.S. Park Police, Navy, Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office, Los Angeles Police Department, Oakland Police Department, San Francisco Police Department, and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, the announcement of the acquisition stated.
