FlashCo, a Santa Rosa-based maker of quick-install flashing for keeping rain out of homes and buildings, on Monday said it acquired a Seattle-area manufacturer of novel roof exhaust vents.

All Fab LLC makes the patent-pending Easy Flapper vent as well as TPO and PVC pipe and vent flashing assemblies similar to FlashCo’s line. The deal closed April 27.

“We have known Roger and Melissa Allestad for many years and we have a tremendous amount of respect for their innovative designs and ability to develop clever parts,” said FlashCo President Greg Morrow.

Based in Everett, Wash., All Fab began operations in 2011, starting in a basement shop and growing to over 15 products, including cones, breather vents, scuppers and corners. In 2015, All Fab product designer Roger Allestad developed the Easy Flapper to solve a common issue with heating and cooling systems on flat roofs.

The Easy Flapper is an exhaust vent for commercial and residential roofs that prevents backdrafts and similar issues for dryers, bathrooms and kitchen hoods. It’s designed to be easy to install and maintain and to allow simpler application designs.

Roger Allstead said he plans to return to full-time work at Loberg Roofing. He worked in commercial project estimating for the Seattle-area company in 2008–2016, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Winding down All Fab is “a little bittersweet,” Roger Allestad said. “We have a great hardworking team, and we enjoyed growing the company, but the opportunity with Loberg is really too good to pass up.”

He plans to continue advising FlashCo on product development.

Melissa Allestad is working with FlashCo Regional Sales Manager Rick Morrow on moving over All Fab customers and visiting customers together through the end of this month. She is credited with building the customer base in the Northwest. S will be working closely with and his team to help customers transition to FlashCo.

“It has been a blast building a local accessories company, but FlashCo has the national reach to really develop and grow the market, especially for the Easy Flapper,” Roger Allstead said. “FlashCo is the right company to take it forward.”

Marrow said the two companies customers want products that save them installation time.

“We are confident that All Fab’s customers will appreciate FlashCo’s service level and capabilities with our Washington plant, and the ability to deliver most orders is one to three days,” Marrow said.

FlashCo manufactures standard and custom flashings for commercial and residential roofing contractors, sold through hundreds of roofing supply distributors in the U.S. and Canada. Founded in Sonoma County in 2000, FlashCo (FlashCoMfg.com) has grown to six locations nationwide: Santa Rosa; Los Angeles; Woodland, Wash.; Chicago; Salt Lake City; and Piedmont, S.C.

Sales are growing at about 20 percent a year, with nearly three-quarters of revenue coming from customers in the Western U.S. FlashCo’s most recent acquisition before All Fab was of Dick’s Lead Shop in October 2015.

It is said to be one of the largest fabricators of roof flashings and accessories in North America, having produced over 10 million parts.
