Foley Family Wines to import Lucien Albrecht wines of France; other North Bay business briefs

Foley Family Wines of Santa Rosa has become the exclusive importer of Lucien Albrecht, a winery based in Alsace, France.

Foley Family Wines will be in charge of all U.S. marketing and sales efforts through its distribution channels across the United States.

Lucien Albrecht is a viticulture pioneer in Alsace, and the company traces its founding family roots back to 1425.

The wines selected for the U.S. market include a blanc de blanc, a brut rosé, a pinot blanc and a riesling. They range in price from $24 to $17 a bottle.

Garrett Hardware & Plumbing Co. of Healdsburg has been named by Ace Hardware as a 2017 “Coolest Hardware Store” winner. The company stated only a handful of Ace stores annually receive the recognition. Garrett opened in 1889.

“The store is tailored to serve the local area, meaning they stock their shelves with a very localized and unique product mix. Items include pet song birds, as well as pet chickens that are able to free range on the store property.”

The Olive Press’ Lunigiana Certified Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil received the BIOL USA Prize, Best Olive Oil of USA at the 22nd BIOL International competition in Rome.

Brotemarkle Davis & Co., LLP, an accounting and advisory firm specializing in the wine and hospitality industries, announced that two members of the firm were instructors for the UC Davis Extension 26th annual OIV Wine Marketing Program.

The firm’s CEO, Craig Underhill, was joined by Erica Riddle, a manager in the firm’s assurance and winery consulting practice. The two co-taught the basic wine accounting class on July 20.

Sonoma County ranked second among mid-sized counties throughout the nation in the 2017 Digital Counties Survey. The survey, conducted by the Center for Digital Government in partnership with the National Association of Counties, identifies the best technology practices among U.S. counties, including initiatives that streamline delivery of government services, encourage collaboration and shared services, enhance cybersecurity and even reduce carbon emissions, the county stated.
