North Bay unemployment figures stayed low in August, according to data from the California Employment Development Department released Friday.

In Sonoma County, the unemployment rate remained unchanged at 3.9 percent in August, and the county ranked sixth lowest in the state.

Napa and Santa Clara counties were tied at No. 4 in the state with 3.8 percent.

Unemployment in Marin, which had the second-lowest unemployment in the state, also remained unchanged at 3.4 percent in August.

Mendocino County ranked No. 16 and remained unchanged at 4.8 percent. Solano County ranked No. 28 with 5.5 percent unemployment. Lake County was in the 34th spot, with 5.9 percent unemployment.

San Mateo County had the lowest rate in the state, at 3.2 percent, and San Francisco was third with 3.5 percent.

For perspective, Imperial County ranked last in 58th place, with 24.9 percent unemployment. Tulare County was in 57th place with 10.6, and Colusa County, with 10.1 percent unemployment ranked No. 56.

The state’s total labor force remained at 19.3 million, with 18.3 million people employed, according to the Employment Development Department.

Nationally, unemployment in August was 4.5 percent, down from 5.4 percent in July.
