Nancy Schmid is leaving as CEO of the North Sonoma County Health Care District, which operates Healdsburg District Hospital.

“After four years at the helm of Healdsburg Hospital, which resulted in a successful financial turnaround, Nancy Schmid and the Health Care District Board have agreed to not pursue an extension to her contract which expires at the end of 2017,” the board announced.

Joseph Harrington, most recently president and CEO of Lodi Memorial Hospital, will serve as interim CEO, the announcement continued. The hospital serves communities such as Windsor, Healdsburg, Geyserville, Cloverdale and the Alexander Valley.

The announcement stated that Schmid arrived in March 2013 to find a district under financial stress, primarily due to unpaid debt and delayed receivables. It credited her for addressing those issues. About a year ago, the hospital district began to investigate partnerships. Harrington is expected to serve as interim CEO until the conclusion of the partnership discussions which are expected to be concluded by the end of 2018.
