Business Journal Q&A: SolarCraft’s Bill Stewart
August 8th, 2011AN RAFAEL — Bill Stewart, an electrical contractor who saw the solar light early on, got into the industry in 1978 and founded SolarCraft in 1984, a good 20 years before improved state incentives encouraged a crop of solar companies to spring up in the North Bay.
Now at 45 employees Novato-based SolarCraft adheres to its original model: a crack team of installers do all the work themselves without resorting to contract workers except when intricate ground preparation is necessary.

Enphase Energy files for IPO, leases 96,000 square feet in Petaluma
June 15th, 2011PETALUMA — Enphase Energy, Inc. announced today that it has filed a registration statement with the Securities and Exchange Commission for a proposed initial public offering of its common stock. The number of shares to be offered and the price range for the offering have not yet been determined. As part of the regulatory filing, Enphase reported that it signed 10-year leases on June 3 for 96,000 square feet at 1400 and 1420 N. McDowell Blvd., two of the three office buildings that housed Alcatel-Lucent’s Petaluma team until April.

Enphase to launch road show
April 14th, 2011PETALUMA — Solar microinverters maker Enphase Energy is launching a 24-city North American roadshow tour to provide a sneak peek of its third generation microinverter system. The Enphase Sneak Preview Roadshow will begin with a kick off event in Petaluma on April 18, 2011, and the customized truck and trailer will then embark on a 60-day tour across the U.S. and Canada.

Fast Growing Companies in 2010
September 6th, 2010Three of Sonoma County’s newest tech companies — Raydiance, Enphase Energy and Métier — have widely diverse products: ultra-short pulse lasers, microinverters for the solar industry and project portfolio management software.
BioMarin Pharmaceuticals, the Buck Institute for Age Research and TriVascular are expanding research, products and staff.
Nearly every sector within health care in the North Bay is undergoing rapid expansion, reflecting a nationwide trend that shows little sign of a respite. This is just a sampling of the quickly growing health care companies and providers across the North Bay, from corporate giants to rural clinics.
La Tavola, ProSight, Central Payment add space, markets; Frank-Lin, Kiewit to move to the North Bay: From linen rentals to financial transaction processing to insurance underwriting to alcoholic beverage production to heavy construction, several companies in various industries have relocated or expanded in the North Bay this year.
