Spotlight on Facilities Managers in the North Bay
July 18th, 2011Editor’s note: This is the Business Journal’s first Spotlight on Facilities Managers in the North Bay. According to the International Facility Management Association, professionals in this job usually are responsible for compliance with laws and regulations on real estate, efficient operations of buildings to limit waste in natural and human resources, safety for employees and environmental sustainability.
“People, place, process, technology,” is the association’s catchphrase for such a position. The following are facility managers identified from among the largest public and private North Bay employers.

Medtronic CardioVascular revenue increases 16 percent in fiscal 2011
May 24th, 2011SANTA ROSA — Medtronic’s Santa Rosa-based CardioVascular division today reported fiscal 2011 revenue increased 16 percent from the previous year to $879 million.

Medtronic stent featured at major cardiology convention
April 5th, 2011SANTA ROSA — Medtronic CardioVascular’s Resolute drug-eluting stent is featured prominently at the 60th Annual Scientific Session and Expo of the American College of Cardiology this week in New Orleans. Widely used outside the United States. the Resolute will launch in the United States, pending FDA approval, in the first half of 2012.

Medtronic CardioVascular revenue increases 8 percent; company plans job cuts
February 22nd, 2011SANTA ROSA — Third-quarter revenue for Medtronic Inc.’s Santa Rosa-based CardioVascular business grew 7 percent to 8 percent, and total company revenue increased 3 percent. However, Medtronic today announced plans to trim its total workforce by 1,500 to 2,000 positions, or by 4 percent to 5 percent, to “align its cost structure to current market conditions and continue to position Medtronic for long-term sustainable growth.”

Medtronic to install solar
August 23rd, 2010SANTA ROSA — Medtronic CardioVascular will install a $1.2 million solar array at its Fountaingrove campus, the company announced today.
The 324-kilowatt system, scheduled to be completed by next summer, is expected to reduce the electrical demand of Medtronic’s largest Santa Rosa facility by 40 percent at peak hours and realize net savings of approximately $1.8 million over 20 years.
